On Missouri's MAP end-of-course (EOC) assessments, English II is reported on a scale from 325 to 490 (2019 and 2021 to 2025), and each score falls into one of 4 performance levels. Reaching Proficient, at 400 or above, is the state's proficiency line.
| Level | Score range | What it means | Statewide 2025 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Below Basic | 325–383 | The lowest level, well below the state standard | 16% |
| Basic | 384–399 | Approaching the state standard | 31% |
| Proficient | 400–419 | Meeting the state standard (the proficiency line) | 45% |
| Advanced | 420–490 | The highest level, above the state standard | 8% |
Statewide in 2025, about 53% of the students counted for English II reached Proficient or Advanced. The bar above shows the share at each level (left = lowest).
These counts are the students who took this end-of-course test during the school year, in the summer, fall and spring testing windows together. Middle-school students who take a high-school course test early (most often Algebra I) are included, counted at their middle school.

A score's meaning depends on where it lands in the ranges above, and on how it compares to other students who took the same test. Our free tool turns an English II score into an estimated percentile versus the school, district and the whole state, so you can see where a score stands, not just its level.
