Mississippi Biology: what a high-school score means

On Mississippi's MAAP end-of-course tests, Biology is reported on a scale from 1000 to 1180 (2019 and 2021 to 2026), and each score falls into one of 5 performance levels. Reaching Passing, at 1050 or above, is the state's passing score.

Who takes this test

These numbers are the Mississippi public school students who took each end-of-course test that year: English II, Algebra I, Biology and US History are taken at the end of the course, whatever the student's grade, so a percentile compares a score with that year's students in the course. Algebra I includes middle-school students who took the course early. Mississippi does not publish results for very small groups, so some small schools are missing.

Is a particular score good?

A score's meaning depends on where it lands in the ranges above, and on how it compares to other students who took the same test. Our free tool turns a Biology score into an estimated percentile versus the school, district and the whole state, so you can see where a score stands, not just its level.
