Who takes this test

Each student counts once per exam per school year, at their highest score from that year's August, January and June exams, in the public school (including charter schools) where they took it. Students in grades 7 and 8 who take a Regents exam early, most often Algebra I, Living Environment or Earth Science, are counted at their middle school.

Is a particular score good?

A score's meaning depends on where it lands in the ranges above, and on how it compares to other students who took the same test. Our free tool turns an Algebra I score into an estimated percentile versus the school, district, county and the whole state, so you can see where a score stands, not just its level.
