Score ranges by performance level

2025

From 2025, Grade 10 Math has a new score scale (850 to 1150) and new level names, so a score from before 2025 is not directly comparable to one from 2025 on. Percentiles are, because each year is compared with its own students.

Who takes this test

These numbers are the North Dakota public school students in grade 10 tested on the state test, by the school where they tested. Through 2024 a district could give the ACT in grade 11 instead of the grade 10 ELA and math test, so those years count only the districts that gave the grade 10 test (about a third of the class); from 2025 every grade 10 student takes ND A+. Science counts nearly every grade 10 student. North Dakota prints each level as a percentage band for small groups, and the number tested is estimated from enrollment.

Is a particular score good?

A score's meaning depends on where it lands in the ranges above, and on how it compares to other students who took the same test. Our free tool turns a Grade 10 Math score into an estimated percentile versus the school, district and the whole state, so you can see where a score stands, not just its level.
